In the age of “fake news,” a term popularized by POTUS Donald Trump after he endured a plethora of false media reports regarding “Russian collusion” and other aspects of his campaign and presidency, a ‘media watchdog’ organization called “NewsGuard” was formed by ‘journalism pros’ to combat such reporting.
“NewsGuard uses journalism to fight false news, misinformation, and disinformation,” the org says on its website. “Our trained analysts, who are experienced journalists, research online news brands to help readers and viewers know which ones are trying to do legitimate journalism—and which are not.”
But after the organization partnered with Microsoft, Google, and Apple to provide a browser app that “rates” news sites for their supposed accuracy, it became apparent what this group really was: Just another Left-wing mainstream media faction aimed at demonizing independent and conservative media, while legitimizing the real fake news emanating from the anti-Trump establishment press.
Case in point: We wonder just what rating NewGuard — and FactCheck.org, and Politfact and all the other “mainstream media” ‘fact-checkers’ — would give CNN, the Washington Post, and The New York Times for labeling Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan “Right-wing” and “far Right”?
Because they just did.
You may have read in recent days that Facebook moved to arbitrarily ban — as in, forever — “dangerous” “extremists” and “far-Right” figures, as NewsTarget reported:
In an effort to make it seem as though the lifetime bans were ‘bipartisan,’ Facebook booted conservative pundit Alex Jones along with well-known anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan in what can only be described as the most draconian measure yet taken by a social media behemoth.
In addition to Jones and Farrakhan, former Infowars editor Paul Joseph Watson, former Breitbart News tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos, conservative Jewish activist Laura Loomer, and others were also shown the virtual door by Facebook after the platform labeled them “extremists” and “dangerous.”
But wait, you might be thinking; How come Jones and Farrakhan were lumped together? They don’t support the same political agenda whatsoever. Jones is conservative — or Right-leaning — while Farrakhan has always been on the side of Left-wing Democrats. (Related: Fact check: What the dishonest fake news establishment media gets wrong about “birthright citizenship” and the 14th Amendment.)
Now, suddenly, he’s just another “Right-wing extremist,” according to the establishment press. As The Gateway Pundit noted, the Washington Post’s headline on the action taken by the social media behemoth was: “Facebook bans far-right leaders including Louis Farrakhan, Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos for being ‘dangerous.’”
The Post’s headline and story labeling Farrakhan “far-Right” was followed with similar labeling from The New York Times and Axios, TGP noted.
Before the 2008 election, Farrakhan posed with then-Sen. Barack Obama, smiling.
Farrakhan is a raging anti-Semite — as is the Democrat Party, accentuated recently by the election of Reps. Rashid Tlaib of Michigan (of Palestinian descent) and Ilhan Omar, who was born in Somalia and is Muslim.
The last ideology that Farrakhan can logically or reasonably be associated with is conservatism and constitutionalism, which are politically “right.” In 2016, for instance, Farrakhan said, “If Donald Trump becomes president, he will take America into the abyss of hell.”
Only recently did Farrakhan praise the president — but not for his politics. Rather, Farrakhan sang Trump’s praises because he “is destroying every enemy that was an enemy of our rise” — referencing the Justice Department “where we get none” and Congress, which makes laws that “destroy” his Nation of Islam.
He also ‘praised’ POTUS after he spoke to the Jewish Republican Coalition last year. “I like what I’m looking at,” he said, in particular for telling Jewish donors, “I don’t want your money.”
Some ‘Right-wing extremist.’ POTUS, by comparison, is a huge fan of Israel, even going so far as to actually keep his promise to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem.
But where are NewsGuard and the rest of the mainstream media fact-checking phonies to correct this monumental mischaracterization of Farrakhan?
